Otaku Generation is a weekly podcast about anime, technology, popular culture, and other related geeky pursuits. Each episode features a number of segments and often a special guest, and runs between one and three hours. The podcast debuted in June 2005 and is now recorded every Monday night in a secret underground studio near King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. New episodes are typically posted late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.
The podcast has an international audience and active online community, including a forum where many listeners and cast members discuss various topics of geeky interest. The show was featured in an article in the November 2005 issue of Newtype USA magazine. It derives its name from the Japanese word otaku (typically defined in the West as "obsessive fan") and from the large nearby anime convention Otakon, which bills itself as "the Convention of Otaku Generation."
